GIN was a rock band formed in 1975 and based out of Oregon. They played school dances and events around the region and won two “Battle of The Bands” contests. GIN performed popular music from the time and also composed several of their own songs. They recorded two of their originals, “Louisville Luck” & “All You Gotta Do” at Raspberry Studios in Eugene Oregon.
I was only 16 at the time when we recorded there. The other three were freshmen in college at U of O. We won 2 separate “battle of the bands” contests and the prize was 16 hours of recording time at REX recording studio in Portland. We talked the people putting on the contest into letting us record at Raspberry Studios in Eugene because it was closer to home for us. From what I remember, the regular recording engineer was away touring other recording studios in England so when we recorded there we had a young engineer filling in. -Chuck Stenberg, 2020
